About Pokémon

Pokémon are fictional creatures of all shapes and sizes that live in the wild or alongside humans. Most of the time, Pokémon do not speak, except to pronounce their names. Pokémon (Japanese: ポケモン) is a media franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995. The franchise is run by The Pokémon Company, a Japanese consortium between Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures. The copyright of the franchise is shared by the three companies, but Nintendo is the sole owner of the trademark.

Pokémon began with two Game Boy (the original) video games, developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. It now extends to video games, trading card games, television shows and animated films, comic books and toys like Pokémon Figures and Pokémon Plush.

What is Pokémon Trading Card Game

In the Pokémon Trading Card Game, players build decks around their favorite Pokémon and then play against each other, sending their Pokémon into battle to prove who the best Pokémon Trainer is.

Players can begin with theme decks—preconstructed decks designed to cover the basics of the game. Then, they can augment their card collections with booster packs that provide more cards, letting players develop more diverse decks. With thousands of cards to choose from, the game is never the same twice.

The Pokémon Company releases approximately four sets of cards, called “expansions”, each year, so the game continues to evolve and expand for both players and collectors. You can check them all on the official Pokémon website.
